Velocity Proxy Download — All Versions
The modern, high-performance Minecraft proxy from PaperMC.
What Velocity is and who it's for
Velocity is PaperMC's modern, high-performance Minecraft proxy. It connects multiple backend servers into one network and supports "modern" player-info forwarding, which is more secure than the legacy BungeeCord forwarding. Velocity runs its own plugins — not Bukkit and not BungeeCord plugins.
Every Velocity build here comes from PaperMC's official build server with SHA-256 and commit messages. Versions ending in -SNAPSHOT are development lines. Velocity listens on port 25565 by default (bind in velocity.toml), so backend servers must use other ports.

How to set up a Velocity server
Steps for the latest version (4.3.1); every version page has its own exact commands.
- Install Java 25 or newer (e.g. Eclipse Temurin) and check it with
java -version. - Download the Velocity jar and start it with the script below — a proxy has no Mojang EULA and is not tied to one Minecraft version.
- It listens on port
25565by default (bindinvelocity.toml). Players connect to the proxy; your backend servers run on other ports (or machines) and must not be reachable directly. - Use modern forwarding: in
velocity.tomlsetplayer-info-forwarding-mode = "modern"; the secret is inforwarding.secret. On each Paper backend setonline-mode=falseinserver.properties, and inconfig/paper-global.ymlsetproxies.velocity.enabled: true,proxies.velocity.secretto the same secret andproxies.velocity.online-modeto match Velocity (Paper 1.18.2 and older:settings.velocity-supportinpaper.yml). - Register your backend servers in the proxy config and restart.
