What Minecraft snapshots are and who it's for
Snapshots are Mojang's development builds of Minecraft: Java Edition. During a release cycle Mojang publishes a new snapshot most weeks — usually on a Tuesday — followed by pre-releases and release candidates just before the final version. Since 2026 they are numbered like 26.4-snapshot-1, 26.4-pre-1 and 26.4-rc-1; older cycles used week codes such as 25w46a.
Snapshot servers are for trying upcoming features, preparing data packs, maps and plugins, and reporting bugs. They are not for your main world: snapshots can corrupt worlds and upgrade them irreversibly, and most plugins and mods do not support them. Every jar here comes directly from Mojang with its SHA-1, and each page links the full changelog.

How to set up a Minecraft Snapshot server

- Install Java 25 or newer (e.g. Eclipse Temurin) and check it with
java -version. - Download
server.jarfrom Mojang (button above) into an empty folder. - Start it once with the script below; it creates
eula.txtand stops. - Set
eula=trueineula.txtto accept the Minecraft EULA, then start again. Players join on port25565.

How often do Minecraft snapshots come out?
Usually weekly during a development cycle, most often on Tuesdays, then pre-releases and release candidates in the final weeks before a release.
Can I play my survival world on a snapshot?
Only on a copy. Snapshots are experimental and worlds opened in them cannot be moved back to an older version.
Is there a snapshot APK for Android?
No. These are Java Edition server jars. Mobile players use Bedrock Edition, which has its own previews through the app stores.
