What Leaf is and who it's for

Leaf, by Winds Studio, is a performance-focused server in the Paper family that combines optimisation patches from several forks. It runs Bukkit, Spigot and Paper plugins. Leaf is often confused with Leaves — they are separate projects with different goals.

Every Leaf download here comes from the official Winds-Studio/Leaf GitHub releases, together with the SHA-256 digest GitHub publishes for the file.

How to set up a Leaf server

Steps for the latest version (26.3); every version page has its own exact commands.

  1. Install Java 25 or newer (e.g. Eclipse Temurin) and check it with java -version.
  2. Download the Leaf jar into an empty folder.
  3. Start it once with the script below; it creates eula.txt and stops.
  4. Set eula=true in eula.txt to accept the Minecraft EULA, then start again. Players join on port 25565.
  5. Put plugins (.jar) into plugins/ and restart.
