The JVM flags are Aikar's G1 flags as recommended by PaperMC. Customise RAM, flags and restart loop →

Rule of thumb: 2–4 GB for a few friends, 6–10 GB for a public server with plugins. Set -Xms equal to -Xmx and leave 1–1.5 GB for the operating system. How much RAM?

Docker

docker run -d -p 25565:25565 -e EULA=TRUE -e TYPE=LEAF -e VERSION=1.19.4 --name mc itzg/minecraft-server

Uses the community itzg/minecraft-server image, which downloads the file itself.

FAQ

What Java version does Leaf 1.19.4 need?

Leaf 1.19.4 needs Java 17 or newer. Running it on an older Java fails with an UnsupportedClassVersionError mentioning class file version 61.0.

Can 1.19 clients join a 1.19.4 server?

Only if both use the same network protocol, which is not guaranteed between patch releases. Players should use the same version as the server; plugins like ViaVersion (and ViaBackwards for older clients) can bridge versions on plugin servers.
