Players need a Minecraft: Java Edition 26.1.2 client. Other client versions can join only through a protocol plugin such as ViaVersion/ViaBackwards.

How to set up Leaf 26.1.2

  1. Install Java 25 or newer (e.g. Eclipse Temurin) and check it with java -version.
  2. Download the Leaf jar into an empty folder.
  3. Start it once with the script below; it creates eula.txt and stops.
  4. Set eula=true in eula.txt to accept the Minecraft EULA, then start again. Players join on port 25565.
  5. Put plugins (.jar) into plugins/ and restart.

What Java version does Leaf 26.1.2 need?

Leaf 26.1.2 needs Java 25 or newer. Running it on an older Java fails with an UnsupportedClassVersionError mentioning class file version 69.0.

Can 26.1 clients join a 26.1.2 server?

Only if both use the same network protocol, which is not guaranteed between patch releases. Players should use the same version as the server; plugins like ViaVersion (and ViaBackwards for older clients) can bridge versions on plugin servers.
