A lightweight, modular modding toolchain with rapid snapshot support.
What Fabric is and who it's for
Fabric is a lightweight, modular mod loader known for updating quickly — often supporting new snapshots within a day. Mods for Fabric go into the mods/ folder; most of them also need the Fabric API mod. Server-side-only mods (for example performance mods) work without any client changes, while content mods must be installed on players' clients too.
The Fabric server download is a small launcher built by Fabric's official meta service: on first start it downloads the vanilla server from Mojang and the loader libraries. Each version page shows the exact loader and installer version and the matching Fabric API release.

How to set up a Fabric server
Steps for the latest version (26.3); every version page has its own exact commands.
- Install Java 25 or newer (e.g. Eclipse Temurin) and check it with
java -version. - Download the Fabric server launcher above (about 176 KB) into an empty folder.
- Start it with the script below. On the first start the launcher downloads the vanilla 26.3 server from Mojang and the Fabric libraries — this needs internet access.
- Accept Mojang's EULA in
eula.txt(eula=true) and start again. - Put mods into
mods/. Most mods need Fabric API 0.165.0+26.3 there too.

What is the latest Fabric version?
The newest Fabric release on MCJarHub is 26.3. A preview for 26.4 Snapshot 6 is also available.
Do players need Fabric installed to join?
For content mods (new blocks, items, mobs) yes, with the same mods. For server-side-only mods, no.
Why is the Fabric server jar only ~180 KB?
It is a launcher. It downloads the Minecraft server and Fabric libraries on the first start.
Fabric or Forge?
