How to set up Quilt 26.2 Pre-Release 5

  1. Install Java 25 or newer (e.g. Eclipse Temurin) and check it with java -version.
  2. Download the official Quilt installer (quilt-installer-0.15.1.jar) above.
  3. In an empty folder run: java -jar quilt-installer-0.15.1.jar install server 26.2-pre-5 --download-server --create-scripts --install-dir=server
  4. The installer downloads the vanilla 26.2 Pre-Release 5 server, sets up Quilt Loader and writes start scripts into server/. Start it once, then accept the EULA in eula.txt.
  5. Put Quilt (and most Fabric) mods into server/mods/.

Modded servers need more memory: 6–8 GB for a light modpack, 8–12 GB or more for large packs. Leave 1–1.5 GB for the operating system. How much RAM?

Quilt 26.2 Pre-Release 5 needs Java 25 or newer. Running it on an older Java fails with an UnsupportedClassVersionError mentioning class file version 69.0.

Is Quilt 26.2 Pre-Release 5 safe for my survival world?

Only on a copy. Preview versions are experimental and upgrade worlds irreversibly; keep a backup and don't switch a live world to a snapshot, pre-release or release candidate.
